Home Safety

Many of the break-ins occur from unsecured windows or doors or just from the default hardware being more of a deterrent than a blocker. Items such as the ones pictured on this slide and the next range from $5 – $20 and can completely stop an individual from opening your window, even if it is unlocked. They also allow for the window to be opened a little bit, allowing you to enjoy those nice Fall nights, but not be opened any further.

  • Keep windows and door secured, including upper-level windows.
  • Evaluate the spaces around your windows to make sure you aren’t providing easy access to higher entry points.
  • Make use of timers or remote triggers for lights for when you are gone for extended periods of time.
